a blog about my adventures in dressmaking, crochet, knitting and anything else i try to make.

About Me

i’m rachel, i’m not-quite-in-my-mid-twenties and i live in birmingham, england.

i’ve been sewing for nearly three years, starting just after series one of the sewing bee ended.  my mom always used to tell me about making clothes when she was younger, and no matter how much i nagged her she wouldn’t teach me.  so i taught myself!  using internet, books and bits that my mom taught me (eventually!) i’m now happily producing a few garments a month.

my first sewing machine was a janome 525s, which was a fantastic machine.  non-computerised and reliable.  i loved it but thought i better buy myself an upgrade before i buy a house and can’t afford a new machine any more!  now i use a janome DKS100, which i love too.  it’s made my sewing so much easier (read: lazier) and i would recommend it.  i will get round to doing a review one day, i’m sure.

i also love to crochet, knit and cross stitch.

i can’t think of much else to say, except i love talking to like minded people, so say hi!
