something a little bit different…

hi friends!     it’s been a while.  to be honest, i haven’t felt much like sewing, which is pants.     i was having some thread snapping problems with my sewing machine again, so i just gave up for a bit.   never fear, i’ve still been making things!  christmas craft more than anything, which i’ve been posting on instagram.  my username is @rach_wain if you want to have

holiday moneta!

bonjour everyone!   today i present to you my favourite example of pattern placement to date; my 3rd moneta!   i made this dress last weekend when we went to visit my boyfriend’s grandparents.  i’d told his grandma about my overlocker and she asked me to take it with me for a sewing lesson, best ever!   it’s safe to say, she now wants an overlocker!

learn to sew with lauren – the simple top

hello everyonnneeee.   i’ve had a bit of a frustrating sew-ing less weekend.  although i had a lovely day with a few people fabric shopping on saturday, there’s nothing like getting to use the fabric you bought!  i was knitting my jumper mostly and it just was NOT as satisfying as sewing, there’s no finishing knitting a jumper in a day. *sad face*     i bought this peacock feather

finished – my second archer

hello everyone!   I’m proud to introduce you to my second version of grainline studio’s archer button down shirt.     i love this shirt.  as you can see, i’ve lengthened it considerably from the pattern pieces.  i wanted it to be long so it would be suitable to wear with leggings.     I bought my fabric from the rag market during sewbrum. it was £3 a metre and

blog hop!

hey everyone!   i’ve been nominated by mel at made by melanie to take part in the blog hop – thanks mel!   so without further ado…   why do you write?   i started my blog so i had somewhere to display my makes in an effort to “keep me on track”.  i’ve got a habit of getting involved in hobbies and makes then i just forget about them.  or

musing about advancing my sewing skill set…

this is a text heavy post, it’s mostly me thinking outloud, so read at your own peril.   i’ve been sewing seriously since january.  i bought myself a “real” sewing machine, a janome 525s, and haven’t really looked back.     i starting sewing things i’d seen on other people’s blogs that i liked.  for instance, the colette hawthorne dress; i look at that now and i hate it, it

sewbrum!

yesterday, i went to my first ever sewing meet up!   charlotte from english girl at home arranged it.    i was quite nervous because i didn’t know anyone at the meet up.  luckily i’d put the feelers out on instagram and a few people replied, yay!  i pottered about with alex, megan and victoria who also didn’t know any body either.  yay for being alone! haha.   first stop

two cocos and a white russian

the title of this post sounds like some awful joke is about to be told…    sorry to let you down,  no jokes here.   in fact, what i have to show you is my most productive week ever in terms of sewing.  not even a full week, six days, i’m giving myself credit where credit is due!   i’ve made two versions of tilly’s coco and another capital chic

coco, a new autumn favourite.

hello!   today, i have something cute (in my unbiased opinion!) to share with you, my coco!   i bought my fabric from minerva crafts, they sent fantastic email updates (and tweets!) and the fabric was here within a couple of days of ordering it.  in all honesty, the green looks like a much brighter green on the website, but i still like it.  bit more autumnal that i anticipated.

finished! deer and doe – datura blouse

hello!   here is my datura blouse, in the best fabric everrrrr.     for my birthday i had a voucher for guthrie and ghani.  i knew i wanted some liberty fabric but hadn’t really had time to go over and have a proper mooch around.  then lauren posted a picture of the new season liberty stuff, and i spied KEVIN.  yep, that is genuinely the name of this fabric!
